As has Greg Cronin. Our PK has been great since Wilson washed his hands of it after the media got on his ass and Cronin got the right guys for the job.. I think Rob Zettler needs to go though, replace him with Eakins. Let Eakins work on systems for 5 on 5, Cronin handle the PK and Gordon handle the PP. Wilson can stand there, look pretty and offer some awesome lines for HBO 24/7.. then he can 'coach' out his contract.. be given a cushy job doing nothing like Fletcher and Eakins can take over and bring up his assistant from the Marlies he's worked with for years. The problem I see is that usually a farm team's system mirrors the big club so that player's can step in and fill a hole as easily as possible. With everyone screaming for a new system maybe it's better to go outside for a replacement and make Eakins an assistant for now. I don't think this market can handle being patient with a first timer behind the bench I will agree that the callups the last 2 years seem to come up ready and rarin’ to go. We simply had no decent talent to motivate. The ones that we did motivate (in Crabb and Boyce) ended up as contributing pieces on the leafs the last 2 years. Aside from that, I can't really say we had any talent that was worthy of the NHL (both skill and age wise). I don't recall Eakins being a great motivator when the Marlies missed the playoffs the last 2 years. Now his talent level is better and he's a "great motivator".
