 | Jesse Blacker Number: 27 Position: D, Shoots: R, Height: 6'1", Weight: 190 lbs, Birthyear: 1991-04-19, Birthplace: Toronto, ON, CAN, Drafted: 2009 round 2 #58 overall Talent Analysis Jesse is a defenseman with upside. He has a strong first pass, and can carry the puck out of the zone well. He shows patience and poise in his own end. Jesse fits the 'Brian Burke mold', showing tremendous amounts of truculence and pugnacity when he goes looking for the big hit. Jesse's only serious downfalls at the moment are ones that can be fixed with good coaching and training from the Leafs organization. At times, Jesse will get outworked when hemmed in his own zone, and be prone to errors. At only 190 lbs, Jesse will also need to add some weight to his frame to endure the rigors of the National Hockey League. Future Outlook Since his trade from Windsor to Owen Sound, Blacker has been given ample ice time, and rolled with it, becoming a plus player in his last two seasons. With all the tools to become a Top 4 Defenseman at the NHL Level, how long, or if he makes it, is completely up to Jesse. |
